Sunday, December 1st, Viola.......a prissy name for a tough flower

These little Violas started life in  February , in  turkey shell incubators.
Come spring they moved to the front porch garden, where they quietly grew and spread, gracing the entrance with  bright bits of purple and yellow all through the summer and fall.
And now, despite many nights of single digit cold, wet and heavy snow, and short sunless days they persist.
thank you

Wednesday, November 27th Not Welcome in the Coop

These three young chicken, new to the flock this spring, are so low on the pecking order totem pole, that even in cold snowy weather they are banned from the coop during the day, forced to find shelter under the trailer cover. At night we make sure they are allowed in.

Monday, November 25th All Alone

but that must be what makes us appreciate the color it gives to this drab landscape all the more.
