Thursday May 30th A Nap and Cookies

The cookies are for Pop's birthday present that I am going to give to him tomorrow. Scott is enjoying the first nap of the season on the porch. It was a hot day.

Tuesday, May 28th. The Real Reason for Memorial Day

I wasn't able to get up to Pillsbury Manor on the actual Memorial Day, so I stopped after my tennis game on Tuesday morning. I wanted to check out the Memorial Day tribute to the residents of Harborview that had served in the military during war time. Dad had a section all about his time in the service.

Monday May 27th After the Deluge

It's Memorial Day, and bright and sunny. It followed at least three days of steady, hard, very cold rain. Here the fields are giving off steam from such a cold and rainy time.

Sunday, May 26th Elizabeth Van da Graaf is showered with gifts!

Cheryl Wexelblatt put on a lovely wedding shower for Elizabeth. She had to have it at VandaGraaf's because she's already moved out of her house next door. There was a delicious luncheon, followed by present unwrapping and then yummy dessert.

This Mama turkey has been sitting on eggs for a couple of weeks now. I doubt the eggs are fertile. I slipped a chicken egg under her, in hopes we could fool her into raising a chicken, but the egg soon cracked under her weight. So, for now, she sits on, what I can only assume, are futile hours. When does one give up?

We spent the day learning about soil health, pasture management and more while visiting an off-the-grid farm in Bethel. The young pigs lived up to their reputation of being dirty little buggers.
